Live secures Met Police contract until 2025
Live, Europe’s largest temporary access company, has won a tender to provide the Metropolitan Police Service with temporary fencing barriers, trakway, lighting, matrix signs and fast road cones and signs requirements until 2025.
Annually deploying around 100,000 barriers for London’s events, the contract also retains Live’s 24/7 service to respond to the capital’s emergency operations.
Working with the Met Police for over 4 decades, Live retained the 7-year contract with up to a 3 x 12 month extensions. Every year, Live deploys around 2 million barriers as well as a high proportion of high-security perimeter fences, including their 8km ‘Super-Fortress’ fence, an essential part of the operating license for Glastonbury Festival.
Live’s Fencing and Barrier division began in the late 1960s at the height of ‘Beatlemania’ and has since developed unrivalled expertise and an enviable product portfolio in perimeter security, crowd control and counter-terrorism solutions.
Over the past four decades, Live has organised access control for thousands of London’s key events, including; Marathons, Royal Weddings, State visits, State Funerals, Jubilees, Public Marches, Summits and the London Olympics.
Live continues to experiment with a view to expanding our hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) counter-terror solutions, both for the Police and local authorities, as well as growing operations in the wider Events market. Earlier this year, Live launched ‘StormFence’, a no-dig, self-supporting, high-security fence that was subjected to rigorous security testing by the Met Police before selecting it to protect the operations around the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, earlier this spring.
The news coincides with another win, north of the border, for the forthcoming Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh, serviced from Live’s Scotland depot.
Mark Fisher, General Manager at Live’s access control division explained,
“There is no better endorsement in our sector than a contract with one of the world’s leading Police Forces. Retaining this relationship illustrates our restless security innovation and our commitment to counteract the threats to our nation and the general public”
