Trakway for 500,000-tonne Landslip Repair
LION has provided temporary access solutions to a landslip which has forced the closure of part of the much-loved Settle to Carlisle railway line. The repairs near Armathwaite, Cumbria, are being undertaken by Story Contracting for Network Rail and will involve building a structure underneath the affected section of railway to support it.
This project will involve major earthworks to stabilise the embankment high above the River Eden, so nearly 3km of trakway had to be installed to mobilise Story’s operations.
LION’s temporary roadway had to negotiate rolling farmland and forest areas where it will minimise any impact on the environment and enable machinery and materials to be transported safely.
LIONtrack’s heavy-duty, dual-sided design, provides a high level of traction when negotiating the forest's steep inclines. The panel can be connected upside down where extra traction is required and because its unique serrated 'fins' disperse water and grips all traffic it contacts, the trakway provides an unrivalled level of performance, resulting in the safest trakway on the market.
“LION has supplied access solutions for many of our earthwork projects and continue to provide the response and quality that we insist on”Jonny Fearon, Project Manager, Story Contracting
The Lion panel is our premier aluminium trakway systems. This award-winning system has a higher level of grip than any other panel on the market. The system has been certified and independently tested in Germany for strength and capability.
